Ebay - am I missing something?

On this transaction, the seller was obviously a bit ambitious with his pricing. He was selling a Canon EOS20D for almost twice the going rate as compared to other sellers. I was watching a few EOS20Ds to gauge what I should sell mine for.

He had no bids whatsoever until the last minute when a newly registered Ebayer put in a bid for the starting price of £400. Today the new Ebayer is no longer registered.

Is there some logic behind this as far as a seller is concerned?

Sounds like the buyer who is no longer registered was one and the same as the seller - trying to start the bidding. It is like bidding up your own item at a conventional auction. The seller was obviously an idiot if he priced his item at twice the average price for the same item. They will have lost out twice - a high listing fee and final sale fee - and if the buyer was the same individual they will have not sold their item.

Further examination of this seller's feedback reveals that he has NO feedback as a seller. Does not leave feedback for those who he has purchased from and has only 5 feedbacks in total. AVOID!! :)

The buyer and seller are both idiots, and possibly both scammers too. Also, as said, they may even be the same person. It takes someone very special to ruin their own scam, with their own shill account.

I see that he's got 3 other way over-priced items for sale and it will be interesting to see what happens at the last minute on these as well. Helps pass the time playing "Spot the moron" on Ebay.:pac:
