We're in Taupo at the moment and trying to plan somewhere to be for Xmas and New Year. We have a van so don't need to book accomodation but would like to get a decent Xmas dinner somewhere. Will most hotel lunches have filled up by now?

We're making our way to the south island quite soon and don't mind travelling a bit for a good place.

    Any ideas?

Queenstown is a full on spot with loads happening and Christchurch has alot going on too for a big city, the smaller places like Greymouth dont have much to offer and Dunedin is a college town but not college season so very quiet wen was there last month.

    So id pick 1. Queenstown
    or 2. Christchurch
