Hiya , yeah I did a course through them last year. They are registered with Fetec but not all the courses. So check that whatever you are doing that the qualification is recognised here.

i was checking out their psych courses too a while ago. I'm pretty sure that they are accredited by an english body called ASEC or ASIT or something. I think FETAC have an agreement or something with them i.e. their level 2,3,4 is equivient to FETAC levels 4,5,6.

It sounded to me like CMIT's psych courses are really just a foundation for future full-time education.. click on their accrediation link for more info or download/print their full prospectus - that where i found the smaller print.

Why do you want to study child psychology? To develop a career in it, out of personal interest?

If you are looking at this course as the mainstay of a career in child psychology then its not the best option. If you are looking at it as an introduction to the field, as a way of seeing what more indepth study might involve then it might be ok. It really depends on where you want to go with your studies.

The Psychological Society of Ireland have a lot of useful info on theri website regarding working and training as a psychologist. http://www.psihq.ie/

    Hi,
Has anyone applied or completed the FETAC level 6 Advanced Certificate in Supervision in Childcare at CMIT? The fees seem a little steep for 9months of online study.
Any feedback or advice would be much appreciated.

With regard to the OP, i too was looking into doing a course through CMIT in the past for postgraduate study. I decided not to however, as although they are accredited by FETAC thats not really good enough for me. I dont think every educational institutional would recognise accreditation from this college, say for example you wished t further your education on completion of the CMIT course. It was too big of a risk for me to take so I declined the course.

There just isnt enough information on this course provider.

I do understand your frustration for trying to find an online or distance course. I have been trying to find a suitable postgraduate course in Business for about two years now. It has to be part time and in a location which would suit me (ie in the west) and not cost a fortune!! i have found it near impossible to find something which meets all my requirements and I often feel like i would be better just going back full time, but i cant afford not to work!!!
I think the education sytem makes it very difficult to return to education at postgrad level, but makes it easy for every young person to attend college, many of them for free!! And lets face it an awful lot (not them all!!) of young people just go to college to drink and not do any work.

Maybe try the Open University? I dont know much about them but I know they are very popular. I have applied to a postgrad in SLigo IT which hopefully I will get as I am itching to progress !!!
