I hope this is the right place to ask this question,
I bought several karaoke disks (not realising that they were mp3 type that only play on a computer) using the winamp program to access the lyrics,
Apparently the can be transferred to a CD or DVD disk for playing on a stand alone machine,
can anyone tell me how this can be done.

Looking to do same myself soon. I am hoping you just put 2 files for each song. Both with same name but one is the music and the other is the text etc. CDG is the name of the disks. Their are web sites you can download files for karaoke use. maybe you could find more information looking on them. google karaoke download.

I'm pretty sure that as gar32 suggests a karaoke compliant disc would just have some_song.mp3 and some_song.cdg with the latter file providing the lyrics for the karaoke player . As you bought the discs as karaoke CDs you should be able to load them into a standalone player with no problem as they are . I'd say your PC doesnt automatically recognise the .cdg files as you have no association set for them . An easy way to check this is to load a disc in your PC and right-click on your CD drive in My Computer (Computer if you are on Vista) and click Explore . Are there two files per track ?
