Couple of people that use this forum mentioned this film on the their worst film lists. I really can't understand why. it was just really cool. I'm not saying it's a master piece nor am i saying it was cheap to make, but i really enjoy rewatching this when it's on the tv. makes me want to track down the extended edition. I think i just have a thing for post-apocalyptic earth.

anyone else love it? explain why people hate it?

Don't love it - but it is a decent flick. Had a good basic premise but just not executed right I think.

Same could be said of Costner's other flick, The Postman.

Yeah, I kind of like it. It's not a great film, but it's not as bad as many people say. It's grand for watching when hungover.

Yeah I really like this. Never knew there was an extended edition, might have a look for it.

I totally agree. It's actually a very good movie, which never got the appreciation it truly deserves. It did cost an anormous amount to produce ($231.7 million) in 1995. Incidentially it did better overseas than in the US.

Nothing wrong with this movie at all. Not the best flick ever but not the worst. I think it just became popular to slate it because it flopped so dramatically. I feel the same about the postman.
I also think the media felt it was Kevin Costners turn to be slated around that time.

From what I've read the extended edition actually has all the nudity and some violence cut from it. It's the American television version.

I'm a big fan of the film and always felt that people wrote it off before they even saw it. I do recall an interview with Kevin Reynolds when the intertviewer asked him how it felt to have directed one of the biggest loss making films ever only for Reynolds to respoind that the film had made more than it's budget back and for them to get their facts correct in future.

I liked it when you saw Jeanne Tripplehorn's ass.

yeah nice ass, totally didn't cop she was "Lady Godiva" from sliding doors until my most recent viewing.

Unforuntely the extended edition isn't the directors cut, I think I read on wikipedia or imdb that the original cut was about 5 hours lonG!

Her ass did better work in Basic Instinct tho.

Not the worst film ever, won't make my favourite list either. But there is def worse movies out there! It probably wouldn't make any list for me at all! Its a forgotten movie that i saw, ive seen it on tv. Don't know if i'd be bothered to purchase it. It didn't deserve the smashing it got though.
