Cold War Americana - where to go?!

    Hi guys,

I've always been fascinated by the Cold War, that's why I'm studying it, but what I'd love to do is go and visit significant sites in America that are relics from that era.

Los Alamos would be one of them but that's high profile, what about the typical fifties diner and gas station like this fella...4603frontrow_gas_station.jpg

The nuclear fallout shelter is another icon of the culture of the Cold War, anyone know where'd be good to see on? fallout_shelter_080428_mn.jpg

Basically what I'd love to do someday is see these relics from a bygone era but one that still echoes to us this day.

Fallout shelters, nuclear facilities, anything that seems to fit in with that picture and is "everyday".

This is probably one of the more obscure requests for help here but hopefully one of you will find it funny or interesting and reply!

    Nice one!
