Hi all, I am treating my boyfriend to a 5 night break in vegas in the new year. I was just wondering where to stay. I have looked at the bellagio and the venetian. How far are they apart???The Bellagio is $700 more expensive but I think he would prefer it, as he plays a LOT of poker!

    Thanks for your replies

The Bellagio is a fantastic hotel but its down towards the end of the strip so you have good distance to walk each day if you want to check out other hotels. I've gone twice myself and stayed in the MGM which i think is fantastic and ideal. The poker room have is probably the best in my opinion, the setup is great and its also has a club and a good bar and a sports bar plus most will probably agree its a great spot for poker. If you want a good night out then check out the Pams hotel, you are sure to have a good night.

    Lucky guy.

The venetian is the best pick in my opinion.
    Have stayed in both.
Rooms in the Venetian is much nicer and bigger and the canal section is amazing, so my vote would be for the Venetian.
The Bellagio is amazing too but more expensive for food, drinks, shops etc.
They are very close on the strip so he can walk to either.

Check both there sites for deals and worth a email to both to see what they can oth offer you.
www.thevenetian.com room for 5 nights is from $700

I don't see the real need to fork out massively on a hotel as the casinos are all in relatively close proximity to each other. I stay in the Excalibur which is right beside the MGM and New York, New York. Cost pretty much feck all and we only had to cross the road to get to the others.

Some people like a bit of a treat when on holiday.
The Venetian is worth every penny.
$1000 for 5 nights? its cheaper than bewleys....

Ah I know that but in these recessions times money mightn't exactly be flowing. I was just offering an alternative if the OP is worried about cash.

Venetian is great, close to the Ballys/Caesars/Bellagio corner of the strip, has a great poker room that is always busy, shops, good restaurants etc etc.
Bellagio is prob a bit more expensive, the Wynn would be too.

I was there about 2 weeks ago and taxi drivers were amazed at how much we spent for a really nice suite which we had booked months before we went.
They recommended booking the hotel room less than a week before you arrive for way better room rates. According to them Vegas is ****ed in terms of room demand, so if you book late you will get great value.
That new Encore hotel (part of the Wynn) has had the upper floors closed off because of the lack of bookings, similarly another hotel expansion elsewhere on the strip has had its construction halted.

Depends on your budget I suppose.I've stayed in the Excalibur on 3 different occasions and can't fault it.

The Venitian is fantastic and probably the best poker room but the cost will be a good bit more versus Excally.

Anyway,if your in your room long enough to appreciate it, your doing something wrong.

    Lucky lucky man BTW.

Was Eva Quinn taken or did you make a bad attempt at "hiding" your real name just in case your boyfriend views this site?

Seriously cool present though, there were threads here during the summer detailing everything you are looking for, Id have a search through the forum before booking anything if I was you.

From the few places I played in last July, I thought the Venetian was second to none, superb card room imo

If its a treat or first time in vegas i would go for the bellagio (lake view).
If however you will be spending little or no time in the room. i would go for the excalibur/imperial palace.
whatever you choose try this trick. worked for me on my last trip.

Venetian is real nice. If you get a chance you should grab a bite to eat in Cut, fantastic steaks. An alternative might be the Hotel @ Mandalay bay, all suite hotel and quite new, stayed there last year and it was top notch, rooms are 750 sqft and are well equipeed with 3 flat screens, wet bar etc. Was over a few weeks ago and stayed in a suite in the Luxor, could do with some modernisation so wouldn't reccomend it over the Mandalay or the Venetian. Shop around the various sites, you'll be surprised how inexpensive some of the accom is.

Quite possibly the best steak I ever had was in the Rio, the restaurant 50 floors up - more costly than otehr places, but boy was it worth it!!!

dont think anyone mentioned it, but if he plays alot of poker, and you intend to "allow" him play 6 hours of poker a day - then ring the venetian and enquire about the poker rate.

as far as i rememeber if you play 6 hours poker a day (over any level) in the venetian - you will get a discouted rate for the hotel. a room priced at 250 dollars, for about 180 dollars a night i think.

All depends on whether he's allowed clock up that many hours!
