Samsung versus Sony

    Hi

    Does anyone know how the Samsung LE52A756 compares to the Sony 52W4500. I had ordered the Sony from Pixmania but the availablility has been pushed out until Jan so I was thinking of picking up the Samsung from Komplett as it is available now.

    Thats a tough one. You probably know that the 756 does not have the LED backlight, only the 786 has that. The samsung has those media features but would you actually use them?? The sony probably has a better 100hz system, though. In terms of blacks , i'd say they're inseparable. Samsungs quoted ratio would be higher but in reality they're exactly the same. Does the 756 have an mpeg4 tuner?? Probably not but you're using sky HD(Which i would highly recommend with a massive 52" screen), so that wouldnt really matter. The sony does have an mpeg4 tuner, though.

    Will you be using it for gaming?? If so, you may be better off with the sony because the samsung would have a little more input lag. Nothing to worry too much about, though. There really aint much between these two. Just go with the one you prefer to be honest.

    Is there any issue when I buy from a uk dealer with tuners? For the moment I will be using sky but I was thinking of freeview hd in the future

    No issue if it has an mpeg-4 tuner like the sony. Otherwise you would need another set top box.
