    Avoid the capital,not much there.

Stay on a few different islands, enjoy urself and relax...there is no time in Fiji, only Fiji time. :D

Moved from Abroad. Again, this thread is not about living or moving abroad.

Get off the mainland and stay on the islands. Yasawa Islands are the islands closest to Nadi, which I presume is where you are flying to. I found it difficult to get a lot of info on Fiji, for backpacking anyway. (I stayed on the mainland as we had only 5 days and missed out on the last ferry when we arrived. Beaches are crap on the mainland.)

Make sure to bring lots of cash with you as they charge a lot if you pay by credit card. Alcohol is expensive there too!

I stayed there for 3 days about 8 weeks ago, found the whole place very boring. Good if your into sun and beach but I wasn't into it at all.

Do prepare though for 'Fiji Time' everything and everyone runs on it there. Nice place to just relax. Find either a hotel or an Island and set up camp there because there is nothing in the towns/cities.

I know this is a week or two old, but I highly recommend Fiji. I was there for 2.5 weeks a couple of years ago, and it is a fantastic place.

I posted on it before: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055363683
