What does the name imply? Is this just an ordinary game of texas hold em?

    Three card Irish

Same general rules as Texas Hold’em

Players are dealt three cards, there is a round of betting and the flop is then dealt as normal.
There is then a second round of betting and at that point any players remaining in the hand must discard one card.
Play then continues as a normal Texas Hold’em game.

    Hope that clears things up

    John.

Been in semi-retirement - playing less sober but keeping up the drunken games (unfortunately!). Definitely gonna make it in for this game tho, remember it was great craic (and slightly confusing) last year!

    See you there.

    See you tomorrow so.

Hi can someone tell me how many runners the Irish got and the prizepool if possible. We are looking to run a 5 card Irish regulary so suggestions please if you attended the game at the Sports.

    Cheers Ross.

14 runners, prize pool €840. €500 1st and €340 2nd. Chopped €420 each in the end. One or two wouldn't play as didn't know Irish Poker (didn't know what game was on that night) - one tried and prob wouldn't again. Was a fun game with most people unsure of rules as different times - fun for a once off but not sure if it'd get a regular crowd although I'd be interested. And don't know the 5 card version.

Cheers Danny. It was good craic and i'd play it again..Would much prefer if it was rebuy though..Would quite like a €50 + 1 rebuy at €30 just to allow a couple of mistakes and gamble.

It never got crapshooty at any stage though.

btw Fergus was looking for your number..(cant send PMs in work through the dodgy server) but if you PM yours, i pass it onto him. cheers
