I have defected from the 9:30 due to the extreme slipperyness of the roads.

Would anyone be on for a spin later, early afternoon perhaps?

Yes, that would be perfect- 1pm at Joe Dalys with the intention of heading up the Gap? I would bring lights, just in case.

Whenever I go out with you I always bring a set of lights- even in the middle of summer!
If no-one else is going don't think we need to meet at JD's,will ring you later.

    Guys,
what were the higher roads like?
I honestly have never been so nervous descending as I was today on Glencree. It was fine once we got lower.

They were pretty much fine, the ice had all melted by the time we were there. There were very small patches on the side of the road visible going up Sally Gap but nothing serious. The descent from Kilbride Camp was a bit hairy mind, there was ice on the road at the top of that climb and it reoccured in a few places on the way down. I am not sure if it had been there all day or if it had just re-frozen, temperatures dropped very fast as the sun went down.

DRIVE!? Burn him! We were on that road earlier and it was very nice, but the light got really beautiful coming up to the sunset, the colours are very similar in my own photos on the other side of Sally Gap as you can see.

stunning photo Verb. the colours are lovely and it looks so peaceful.
I was working in my kitchen all day looking out at the frosty grass in the garden. wouldn't have liked being out on the bike today.

Cheers LDB ! Yeah it was a great day for the light and colours. Only really get it this time of year. Nice to see the moon out as well, in Blorg and Emty's photos too.

I was in no state to control any form of motorized mechanical device after wee christmas party in town on Friday night, so just as well I passed on the cycling. I was happy to be driven around.

I even see Blorg was wearing a helmet in Emty's photos ! A might concession indeed to the treacherous conditions.

Actually, whilst on the topic of photos. Anyone carry a DSLR around with them at all when on spins to get nice photos? I was asking this of the mountain bike lads as well and saw some decent chest mounted bags. I could also chuck it into a quick release pannier style bag I have..
