The narrator's voice is cool :)

Great clip thanks: Merckx and Moser were just awe-inspiring. I think the narration is great too: it's all about suffering, and that clipped, understated style is so full of fatalism and melancholy - much better than the over-excited live commentary you get on TV.

Yes, they certainly don't make them like they used to and it really puts the Eurosport/cycling.tv wittering in context. Less is more.

Of the more recent documentaries, 'Hell on Wheels', which follows T-Mobile, in particular Zabel and Aldag, in the 2003 Tour isn't a bad job.

I hate to bring it up, but I also really enjoyed 'The Road to Paris' -the docu about Lance training for the '01 tour -it's a good watch.

I also like the one about Bjarne Riis and CSC, 'Overcoming'

I have that too. It's a bit mixed I found, but the stuff about Voigt is good viewing.

Overcoming, A Sunday in Hell are superb, though I prefer Sunday, feels more about the event, less interviews, more drama

There's also another great one called 23 Days in July, its about the Aussie cyclist Phil Anderson's attempt at the 1983 TDF,well worth a look,it really was a different world back then,Kelly took yellow for a day and Roche was in white ,i wonder was it one of the a golden age's?.Has anyone seen The Quest, following the 2002 Giro, and one more Hell on Wheels, follows the Deutsche Telekom Team in the TDF,Zabel et al.Anyone got any others'?
