UPC Box acting strange

I few days ago I was cleaning around my TV. I unplugged my UPC box to get into an area and then plugged it back in, making sure all the inputs were correct and the scart was in the right connection and so on. Later that night I watched TV without any problem. The next morning I woke up to see that the box was in standby. I didnt think much of it. I turned it on and out of standby just to shut off the glowing red light but I didn't watch anything, all day in fact. This morning I woke up and it was in standby again. This time I turned it on and watched TV. Immediately I started experiencing problems. The picture was flicking horizontally, at first sporadically but then constantly. I turned the unit on and off and that fixed it for a second until frames started dropping left and right and the audio was stuttering. I plugged the unit in and out, turned it back on and within a minute it was doing it all again, and now it was also tuning itself out too like a weak analogue connection.

I've tried everything I can think of. Switching scart cords, removing the smart card, resetting to factory settings etc. I've made sure it's not my DVR with is connected between the TV and UPC box. When I overlay the DVR menu on top of the UPC picture the menu's fine but the connections still acting up in the background.

The strangest part of this is that I'm watching TV now and it's fine. So now I have two things that only seem to be happening in the morning: the box going into standby, and acting strange. I'm thinking they're connected issues.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is the box just screwed? Since it started after I plugged it out that day I'm wondering if I caused it and so it might be something I can sort out myself before I call them up.

    Thanks for reading.

Mine was flickering earlier until I rebooted it (as part of a cable cleaining operation). It's been fine since. It could have been problems earlier today?

I hope so. I still can't figure out what shut it off both mornings though. That's the part that made me think it was a bigger problem than just a bad signal this morning.:(

I used to find mine had turned itself on some mornings. It may be nothing.

Exact same thing with mine last evening when I got home. Box in standby, and soft power on had all channels blank.

I just did a reset and everything was working fine again (small Pace box).

Signal probs all across Dublin(at least) today, flickering and stuttering.

    Seems to be ok now.

    Anyone else still having problems?
I've the small silver pace box and still problems (in Dublin 9).
My NTL BB is also not working, started happening about lunchtime on Friday.

I rang them this morning, they're sending a technician out next monday
The guy on the phone seemed to know why I was having the problem , he got me to switch the BB & TV cable in the splitter they have connected, the BB started to work & TV stopped. He said that I'm getting a reduced signal to the house, and the technician is going to have to up it.

Anyone else have/heard of this problem?
