    Hello,
Im in a bit of a dilemma at the moment as i was gonna go ahead and buy the samsung 40A656 but now iv been told that the Sony 40W4000 is the better tv.

Il be using the tv for watching tv and sport in SD and playing and playing some xbox360.

I just want to know which one is better leaving the price aside.

    Any help appreciated, cheers.

Personally, i'd go for the samsung in your situation. The main reason being that the samsung has 100hz whereas the w4000 does not. This would be a huge advantage when viewing football in SD. As well as that, the samsung is supposed to process SD better. I wouldnt say the w4000 is a "better" tv at all.

Good reviews of both tvs here

The only slight problem that i can see the samsung having is slight input lag. This might not suit you if you are a very sensitive gamer but it wouldnt affect most people at all

If you still want a sony in your situation, i'd get the 40w4500 instead

I've heard that the 100Hz on the samsung doesn't really make a difference? don't know if this is true.

And also there seems to be a few problems with the samsung as people have been returning them to stores? Or can this be fixed with the firmware update?

Maybe 100hz just comes down to personal preference but i know that i'd have it if i could get it. I love the mirror effect it creates.

As for problems, the sony would slightly have the upper hand on the reliability front. That said, if you look at AVForums, many people who have bought this years sony models complain of smearing.
