Any creche in the Howth area?

    Hi all,
Having had no luck in the "North County Dublin" forum, I am trying here.

Does anyone know of a crèche, or a reputable qualified childminder, in Howth that would be suitable for full-time working parents?

There is a "preschool" facility at the National School, Tuckett's Lane, but it closes after 12 noon (not practical when you are working until 17:30...), and we were informed the crèche at the GAC accepts children from 2 years old only.
How do other parents of youger toddlers do? Does one of them give up work altogether for 2 years?
Or do we have to find a crèche near our place of work instead?
Any help/tip/piece of information, however tiny, is more than welcome.

    Many thanks in advance!

There is no creche that I know of in Howth or Sutton, but I'll ask around over the weekend.

The nearest one that I do know of is in Baldoyle, the Racecourse Shopping Centre. which opens til 6pm.

After that, you're looking towards Clare Hall, Donaghmede or Portmarnock.

Thanks for your offer to help, tricky D.
Baldoyle is a bit out of the way unfortunately, as the missus and I are both Darting towards Dublin...

I actually noticed at the Credit Union official opening on Sunday the number of young children there are in Howth. Are none of the mothers working so there is no need for a crèche? Or are they all using a crèche nearer their place of work?
Given the situation, I am afraid it is what we will have to do... So much for keeping the child 'in the community', she'll have to be elsewhere.

Don't hesitate to post if you (or anyone) hear/know of some development or of a qualified childminder that would operate around the village.

    Cheers

    There's a good list here:
    http://www.fingaldirectory.ie/list-companies.asp?Category=Childcare&Order=Town

I don't see any creches (specifically) for Howth, but there may be some in the area. A good idea might be to get in touch with the pre-schools and see if they've any pointers. There just has to be someone doing this in the area.

    Good luck

    Hi

Did you have any luck finding a creche in Howth?

I am interested as I am considering opening one as part of a preschool set up.

    Thanks

    Hi Aleana,
Unfortunately, despite the help provided and the searches we made, we did not find any crèche in Howth... Looks like there is none, no more than there are childminders. Or if there are, they obviously don't want any business, as they keep very quiet about their existence!
For your info (as well as tricky_d's - thanks for the tips anyway!) I found one in D2, Merrion Sq area, and we'll have to DART with a (sometimes bored, angry, impatient) baby every day. Not the easiest thing to do, but we are left with no choice...
Best of luck in your endeavour if you're opening up one in the village!

    Thank you for info.

Since there is a lack of such a service in the Howth/Sutton area I will be opening one later this year. I will post the details as and when available.

Hi Aleana - do you know where you will be opening yet?

It is my intention to open a preschool in September offering Spanish immersion. A small creche is planned for January. Again we will be giving the child the opportunity to learn a second language at a stage that it can be soaked up naturally!

We will be based in Sutton.

Hi - very, very late in the day to reply but i'm new to this so... Yes there is a creche and montessori in howth... my sister sent all her kids there and said it's fantastic. i'm not sure what it's called but it's just down the road from the entrance to deer park... opposite howth lodge appartments. There's a little church and the creche is behind it. The girl who runs it is Karen (formally McBride) but don't know what her married name is. i know it's too late for you, but maybe other parents are looking and i know they are difficult to find so hope this helps.

    Any update available?

I am struggling to find a nursery or creche in Howth / Sutton area. I'm seeking to place our daughter when she's 8 months old when I return to work. I see their are some in Baldoyle but would prefer to not extend so far.

(The only facilities found so far don't take infants)

    Thanks,
    Jacqui
