Does any know if the route for 2009 is on any website. I got this from the wicklow200 website but I couldn't find it on Mapmyride.

I was just wondering if there was a more detailed map anywhere.

As far as I know thats as detailed as the wicklow people get. I'm sure someone will put up a more detailed route soon.

Is this for practice, do you wish to try certain segments?

More details on the WW200 Map :) More climbs more descents, more pedalling too! Do the 200!!!!

I've already entered even though I haven't had a chance to cycle in the last 6 weeks. Between work and the dark evenings I'm not getting out, I haven't even had a free weekend in the last 6 weeks. I'll be able to start commuting again next week (Hopefully) but I'll be off for a couple of weeks over Christmas so I'll get a bit in then.

I plotted it out on Bikeroutetoaster here.

It's a harder route with the double whammy of Shay Elliot and Slieve Mann. Two class climbs, I love 'em.

I love it when people have too much time on their hands

El_Tonto, does the route turn off from the main descent of Shay Elliot?

Actually, that might be my mistake. It could turn off nearer Laragh, hard to say from their map.

How accurate is the 2987m of climbing? Seems a bit high considering the biggest climb is about 400m.

I think those things take into account every little rise in the road.

How quickly are the registration places filled?
Are there usually some left around Feb?

I'd say it's not far off, there is a lot of undulation. It depends what you count as "climbing" - e.g. if you go up 10m and down 10m and then back up 10m again do you add 20m to your ascent or do you only count climbs over a certain altitude gain.

The whole up and down thing is just as tiring as straight 2,000m climbs IMHO (indeed probably more so.)

Can't wait. Last year ws my first W200 and I had a blast. Never felt fitter or healthier in my life.
Sleive Mann and Shay Elliott...nothing like seeing your lunch again at the top of a climb to get you moving!

And next year you will have the added bonus of witnessing your neighbour either losing his lunch somewhere or just cursing his way up Slieve Mann:o
