Matching mixer with speakers: Help needed

    Hello all,

Need some advice. I've got a powered mixer with 1000w output (2 x 500w switchable 4/8 ohms) and i'm looking to buy some pa speakers to match it but i'm unsure what wattage to buy. Some sites say amp needs to be higher than speakers, one or to others say they should be the same. Also slightly confused whether i should be matching amp with the RMS or the max output of the speakers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Dara

For best performance, give the speaker one and a half to two times it's RMS power. With powered mixers this is fairly tricky.

    What desk is it?
