    Hi all

I am thinking of converting a workshop/garage into a house it is separate form the main house and large enough to make a comfortable 2 bed home. It is a concrete structure with a galvanized roof.Is planning permission needed to do this. It has power and water already and enough windows and doors. I am just looking for some advice to see if this would be a viable option so any feedback would be really appreciated

    Thank you

You will require permission . In MOST cases you would not get permission to simply convert an ancillary building into a house .

HOWEVER - ask an experienced professional to take a look on site . Depending on your site size and location demolition and new build could be a runner

Are you going to rent it/sell it or are you going to use it ax part of your own house?

Depending on location, size of site etc. - If you were to use it ancillary to your own house as say a granny flat or for guests it would be more favourable than if you were to use it a totally seperate dwelling.

As stated get a professional locally to give you advice. You could also look for a pre planning meeting with the local planner to discuss this proposal.

    thanks

Generaly speaking would it be expensive to get someone to come out and look at the site
