Does Batt O'Keeffe's pronunciation of Millions and Billions annoy anybody else or is it just me?
If I see him on the street i'll feel like grabbing him by the throat and screaming "MILL-EEE-ONS" into his face.

I had a teacher who always said millons and billons. We used to assume it was because he was deaf in one ear and had a bit of a speech defect as a result. Maybe he was just from the same neck of the woods as O'Keeffe.

As a side issue, does anyone else find it hard to take a politician who calls himself Batt seriously? What sort of stupid name is that?

'Tis a bit strange alright - I find it quite comical. It's like Willie O'Dea - there's something the name that means you can't take him seriously.

I disagree, we've all seen the photos of Minister O'Dea holding a gun to a photographers head, since then I think we've learned to not fcuk with him.

Heard that on the radio as well.

I don't know what irritates me more - him saying 'millons and billons' or what he is going to do with our 'millons and billons'. :(

    Surely it's the latter...

    Yeah, in reasoned hindsight.

But at the time it was fifty fifty ;)

    Nope. :)
Well looks like you're just going to have to go the long way around.
Go to rte.ie > news > ireland > thing about batt o'keefe > then click the TV icon to watch the news clip.

There's far more annoying things than that about him that annoy me.

He pronouced the name of a college he was in wrong several times at an opening recently. That pissed me off big time. Then I laughed. Then I realised I was laughing at the minister of education not being able to say NCAD. Then I got very pissed off.

    NACD my arse, minister.

What about saying 'Pacific' instead of 'Specific'. This drives me nuts.
