Anyone using this lens? Ive got the canon 15mm fish, the 50mm and the sigma 70 - 300..

Ive really been noticing 15mm fish is not going to work for landscapes so im looking at the 17 - 40 off ebay for about 500ish just wondering is it a good deal or should I be looking at something else? The sigma 10-20 maybe?

I rarely shoot long at all... Like I dont use the 70 - 300 at all really.. once or twice every few months.

Will be used on a 5D..

    Thanks peeps :)

17-40L is an excellent lens and has much more resolving power than the Sigma 10-20

I can only comment using the 17-40 briefly on a 30D and the results from it were fantastic. IQ was brilliant and overall build quality is upto the usual L standards :)

On a 5D it will be awesome!

I've just bought one. Had it sent to my friend in London so I can't pick it up until I make my way there on the 12th. It was at my friends place within two days.

Bought it from a Scotish based seller that a few people here have used. It worked out at £429, around €503 brand new. (Conns Cameras €830!!)

You could email him to see for yourself kerso1123@msn.com

I bought it from a guy that I found using ebay. He has a store there but also deals off ebay too for a cheaper price. With the nature of my job I travel around a lot and I decided just to have the lens mailed to my friends place in London cause I knew I'd be there soon enough and that the lens would be waiting for me.

I had tried to arrange to pick up the lens directly from the seller as I was passing near Fife where he's based but my schedule didn't allow me the time to do so on the day.

I felt totally confident buying from this guy as I was bothing him for a few weeks with questions and he always was very prompt with his replies. Animalrights on here has delt with him too awell as others.

Again I must stress I decided to buy from this guy away from ebay because he very much welcomed a cash on collection sale but was also more than happy to post and lastly he did offer a reduced price away from ebay as he'd not encour any ebay charges as a result.

    Hope this helps.

edit: his shop on ebay is called Flash Camera

Will I give him your details when emailing him? He doesn't have any of the lenses on ebay now atm.

I got my 17-40 off kerso a few weeks ago (I think it was around 450). His service and ther lens are both top notch. Email him and just ask him for a price on the lens

The 17-40f4L is my work horse. Be careful some variants of the lens suffer from barrel distortion.

Yep I have one aswell and to continue the good reviews I find it to be excellent.. Combined with a 70-200 2.8 and a 50mm 1.8 they meet nearly every single challenge I have...
Its a great walk around lens and will cover relatively wide angle landscapes no problem.

    Good luck with it..
