Hi, I am considering buying my first turbo trainer. I have narrowed it down to these two:
    • Tacx Satori
    • CycleOps Fluid 2

Both are €150. I am training for racing so I would like a decent one to start with. What are your opinions on these?
Any help would be great because I know nothing myself! :) Thanks

never used a cycleops, but have the satori, its grand. but would probably have paid more for the tacx trainer with the wattage/power measurement thing. down-side is you have to plug it into the wall for power.

but yeh, the satori is grand if your training for races. thats what i use it for.

Ba is a user. Check the poll and you'll see he's voted in this.

Previously used the original Cycleops Fluid, wasn't impressed. And it started to leak after 1 year. How loud is the satori and does it vibrate much?

Ok, I ordered the Tacx Satori on CRC for €152 just there, should arrive on Tuesday so I will let you know how I get on!
    One question I have is:
Is a turbo trainer specific tyre necesary?
I was thinking of ordering one of these http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=Y2007
but I don't know if it is really necessary! Would you buy a spare wheel to go with it too?

Good luck on receiving it on Tuesday - I ordered a Tacx Turbo last Monday and still no sign, but it is due this Monday !
Anyway the specific tyre is not really necessary but it depends on what tyre you already have on (I wouldn't use a good race tyre for e.g.), I just have a trainer tyre at the moment so will just use that.

So what Tacx trainer is best? money sorta no object (rather not have to upgrade down the road) would prefer something reasonably quiet, not overly worried about tons of software options. Was looking at the 1970, is it worth the extra cost?

    thanks

The Satori is probably the cheapest Tacx trainer that is fairly decent. It's used by many Pro Teams so I'm pretty sure it will be good enough. If you are willing to spend a bit more, the Tacx T1680 Flow would be brilliant (not much to upgrade from here as it has all the technical computer functions)

The Pound-Euro exchange rate is unbelievable at the moment so if you are thinking of getting one, buy it now from a British website (CRC/PBK/Wiggle..etc)
