it doesnt do capital letters. at the start of sentences and such, where you expect automatic capitalisation it doesnt do it. its doing my head in having to go back all over it, its supposed to do it, format-> font-> capitalisation-> none but it doesnt aaaahh!

Obviously they mean MS Office 2008 for Mac

(MS Office 2007 is the Windows version, just in case anyone hadn't worked it out)

PS: Does anyone else using Office 2008 find that the apps are really slow to launch, compared with other apps?

Hmm, and no way to speed them up, not mention the lack of combo updates for MS Office - installing and upgrading 4 or 5 patches sequentially is a joke.

    How can you be sure?

Seriously though office 2007 for windows is an excellent piece of software, superior to the mac 2008 version. I would like to see it on mac!

    What's better about 2007?

PS: To anyone who has used iWork, how compatible with MS Office for Windows are the docs that you generate with iWork apps? - I'd consider moving to iWork if I could be sure that the PC users that I deal with (who haven't a clue how their PC works) could still open them with a simple double-click from the email.

To answer the OP's question, in the menu bar go to Pages -> Preferences. Then click the 'Autocorrect' tab and check the box that says 'Fix capitalization.'

THe UI is excellent and its considerably more stable in my experience.

Fair enough, I haven't used 2007 on Windows, so I can't compare, but even though it might be better, I'd still say 2008 on a a Mac has an acceptable (for MS!) interface.

I'd agree about the stability issues with early versions of 2008, but the recent updates seem to have sorted out the 'unexpectedly quit' issues. Still very slow to launch though - they look like Rosetta apps (even though they aren't)
