You will get a decent printer for around 100E I think. I have HP Photomart D5160 which I am sure HP have superceded but which is all the same, a great printer.

Spend the difference on cartridges. They cost a nice amount of money. I have spent more on cartridges than on storage for my camera in the last year.

depends on what kind of thing you are looking for

if its a4 ish then there are loads, canon and epson do 8 ink printers that produce fantastic results

if your looking for a3 ish prints then either the 2400 or 2880 from epson or the 9000 or 9500 from canon

the other option for that kind of money is to buy a smaller dye sub printer, you get the same kind of results you get from those kiosks in the shops, canon selphy range, they tend to have memory card readers built in etc too

but they really only do 6*4 or sometimes 7*5 for the kind of money you have to spend

Looking at printers myself, Canon Prima ip4600 in PC World for 99 euro looks like an absolute bargain to me considering the quality it creates (or at least the specs say it will)

I foresee myself purchasing one in the next 2/3 weeks.

Stupid question - I was thinking of getting one of these for my mother as well (mother, if you're reading this, go away, it's a surprise). I was looking at the little freestanding ones (don't need a PC) like the Photosmart. Do you reckon I should go for a bigger one that prints A4? She has a large decent 3 in 1 already (but father keeps stealing it :) ), and invariably seems to mess up smaller prints in the feed. Reckon something like this would be a good bet? It will be primarily used for printing 70 trillion photos of her granddaughter. Because apparently we can never have enough photos of her around.
