Just thinking about season 3 and say first off I have not watched it since it was broadcast so memories maybe fuzzy or just wrong but if I recall Michael was sent to Sona by the company to retrieve Whistler and also get his bird book.
The bird book mattered it turns out because it had the blueprints to Scylla which the company already had. This prompts the question why did they care at all about Whistler and the book?

i dont think they knew what was in the book

or maybe if they did they wanted to get it off the streets?

Equally possible is that they just want us to pretend season 3 never really happened.. personally, I'm ok with this option :D

Oh yes, my own personal take on it is they did want to do that. Whatever rough idea they had for Whistler and the book was changed and they literally did want to wipe away any memories of season 3 so killed whistler off, got everyone in Sona to escape, brought back Sara and ditched LJ and the latino women. The only person remaining is Gretchen.
I am just wondering from a story perspective or am I asking too much of PB....

Yeah this confuses me as well. Although I believe the proper explanation is that the writers had no idea themselves and just made it up as they went along

Well the Company needed Whistler to retrieve one of the 6 Scylla key cards, which was dealt with in s4e1. He was some sort of spy or something?

probably because Whistler was the only one that could decipher the coordinates.

I'm *so* glad i stopped watching that show midway through Season 3 :)

I was SO happy with season 1: "They're in a prison and want to get out"
and Season 2: "They're on the run after getting out of prison"
Then season 3 came along with its "oh, look, they're BACK in prison!"
and it lost its charm... :(
