Advice re contraception

    Hi,

I've been on the pill (Microlite) for a few years now, but over the last 18 months my blood pressure has been increasing and its dangerously high at the moment. I've stopped taking the pill, and am trying to get the blood pressure back under control, but the doctor says I won't be able to go back on the pill - not the combined one anyways. She suggested either the eostrogen-only one or the implant ... I won't be able to get either until the rest of me is sorted anyways!!

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these, or with any other forms of birth control (which wouldn't affect blood pressure.) Specifically, would like to avoid anything with unpleasant side effects, such as weight gain, if possible.

I'm married but not planning on having children anytime soon (if ever), so I wouldn't mind a long-term-ish (3-5 years) option.

Also, it doesn't matter if the contraception isn't 100% effective, as I would be using it in combination with durex extra-safe ;)

Thanks in advance for your help!!
