I am going to replace the handrails bacerails ,spindles and newels for a cliate.

for ordering. What is the size ot the smaller length spindles going up the staircase and the larger ones at the top. Also. What to call the newel post at the top of the staircase that has the double face. to marry the handrails of different heights.

    Thanks

There are so many configurations available. Would advise you to go your local builders merchants and they will help you out. They will show you what they have and put the proper name on items.

Every supplier has different terms to describe them.
Simplest way, just ask for a bottom newel post , top newel post and a landing or half landing post. Spindles, if it's a closed thread srairs, ask for stair spindles, 2 per step + 1 and for the landing, 2 per foot + 1 per running length.
    For cut string stairs, you'll need 1 x 3' and 1 x 40' per step..
