It depends on the original price of the book, as far as I know.

    However, there are some exceptions.

The fines do add up....just ensure that you pay them as soon as you can, esp. if you are due to graduate this year, as you will not receive your qualification unless all library fines are paid before then.

does every library in DIT have a Shh-er librarian? iv studied in three of them and only ever heard a shh-er librarian in bolton st.? Actually Shh-ing people who are conversing in the library area, not in a quiet zone. i know of students whose asked ppl to turn down music and that, but im talking about a dit employee.

Yeah I've seen them in the Bolton Street library.

Not even NEAR the study area either, thought it was very unfair. Group of guys were standing waiting on a computer and were chatting and she came over and started going ballistic and basically threatened to throw them out. She went further though and insited that one guy in particular sit down at a desk away from the rest of his friends.

Now, I'm a stubborn person and it's lucky it wasn't me cos I might be banned from the library after what I would have said

If you have lost the book then you pay the current replacement cost which could be anything from €20 to €200. You would probably have some idea if the book is sold in Easons. If however you have the book and are just returning it late then it is €30 maximum. They will tell you in the library.

I studied in UCD and now Cathal Brugha Street neither of which had quiet areas as its a library my understanding is everywhere there is quiet and certainly the porters in UCD would ensure it was or turf you out and other students would tell you to keep quiet. I notice they have no porters in DIT which means all the libraries are nosier than the Universitites however the staff in Cathal Brugha Street do tend to do the porters job and tell people to keep quiet or leave.

make sure you do the survey that the email has been sent out about!!! there's a question on how satisfied you are with the library opening hours, now is the time to voice any dissatisfaction. (I know I will :D)
