Pre cervical cancer treatment & Conception

    Hi all,

My g/friend (aged 33) had treatment for potentially pre-cancerous cervical cancer when she was 23. It was under local anesthetic. She goes for smear tests every year.

Then this year again abnormal cells appeared again and she went in for more treatment. This time is was a general anesthtic and some sort of laser treatment was used to zap away the cells in question and some skin tags.

We plan on getting married etc and discussed kids but am concerned that these treatments may affect her chances of conception etc.

Has anyone else gone through similar treatments and did it effect conception/pregnancy?

    Thanks

PS. I should add she lives in England and all her treatments are in England and not in Ireland. She would prob be dead if she was born in Ireland.

Why don't you both sit down with the drs and ask those questions ?

Of course we would ask a doctor in due course.I am only looking to hear from anyone else who had similar experiences. I am not looking for a medical prognosis.

sounds like she probably had a LLETZ procedure done.

I have looked after many women who have had this procedure done and had babies successfully.

It is something that if your friend is concerned about, she should discuss with her doctor though.

Ive had this procedure done, twice. The doctors have recently assured me the only problem this may have with being pregnant is that you will prob go a bit earlier. They said usually at 8months!
So nothing to worry about. Happy baby making.
