South side winter evening ride?

I am not really keen in heading out into the hills at night like blorg and people so I normally just use the phoenix park in the evenings as it is close to where I work.

I am working in Dundrum today and wondered if any one had any suggestions for good routes on the south side for an evening without massive amounts of waiting around at lights. Looking to do probably about 40-50km but dont mind doing the same loop two or three times.

I had thought about the N11 up and down but not sure what that is like in an evening.

    Cheers for any advice.... :D

Well up to Enniskerry doesn't involve much climbing, and from the you can head back along the N11, or along the coast road (traffic will be pretty much all in the other direction). IF you fancy a spin, I'd be up for joining you this evening... :)

N11 is boring and the cycling lanes are really really bad. I would follow Tiny's advice :)

Yeah out to Enniskerry and then back via the coast road looks a nice ride alright.

Does the Enniskerry road have street lights on it? I have night lights was just wondering.

Would something like this look reasonable?

There's not a huge amount of street lights on the road, but you can always borrow one of my lights if you need it :)

That route is pretty much what I was thinking of, though I'd leave out Rochestown Ave (it can be busy), and use this route

I might be on for this myself, the earlier the better for me (I finish work at 16:30.)

Hopefully hills would be kept to a minimum as I am on my fixie and still suffering with my knee. What's the earliest everyone can do? I can do 16:45 from Lamb's Cross.

I am out tonight as physio had banned me from the bike for a few weeks :(

Oh dear. What physio did you go to and what was the problem? I think I am going to need one myself for the knee.

Hey Blorg,i just finished up 6 weeks on my knee with Paul Tansey in Dundrum,a combination of Laser and Deep Tissue work did the trick, hes a very good cyclist and knows his stuff,a few others have recommended him as well.Dont mess around with the knee too much by over doing it,not worth it.

I have always had problems with my shoulder and I cycled into a tree on my mountain bike a few weeks ago and made the problem a whole lot worse.

I went to www.premierphysiotherapy.ie who are based in Ballinteer. It was €60 for the first session and €50 for follow up sessions but they come highly recommended from friends of mine and I was very impressed even if she did say I had to lay off the biking for a few weeks.

Luckily she said I can still use my turbo trainer and go running as much as I like

Am in the middle of a course of treatment on my neck with him too, and he is great -though not a physiotherapist, he's a chiropractor/physical therapist which is different iirc

    off topic:
tiny, big difference between a physiotherapist/ physio and a physical therapist.

i would recommend seeing a Chartered physio who should then if need be refer you onto the correct profession if it is appropriate.
