Playstation 3 Problem, Suggestions ?

Hi all

I am having a problem with my ps3 and was wondering have any of yourselves expierienced the same problem.

When i start up the ps3 it doesnt go straight into the game or dvd anymore,
It just goes straight to the main menu.
But in the main main menu i have no option to start the dvd,blu ray or ps3 game.
So essentialy i cannot play anything on the console.

Am i doing something wrong, ?
Is it not reading my discs, ?
is there a setting that can alter this?

Any replies would be greatly appreciated

Theres no icon of the disc in the main menu?
have you tried other discs like Blu-Ray, CDs?
If none of them show up, the laser may have failed and you will need to have it repaired or return it to the place you bought it.

Have a search through this forum for blu-ray of death, its a couple of pages back. it gives plenty of advice on what to try first.

I know its probably not the case but if you put in a Bluray it will be under video and a game will be under game, just incase you were missing it. Worth a shot

i had the same problem with my PS3. just wont recognise discs at all. wont even attempt to play them. its a problem with the updates and very few people are having problems with it. bring it back to the shop you bought it in and they should replace it.

Try putting "Disc auto start" on in game settings. Turn off your PS3 and turn it back on.

According to Sony its failing lasers, not updates.

maybe so. either way bring it back and they will replace it for you.
