this was first aired on TV back in 1994. it was a TV mini series...

i recently got it on 2 disc dvd. its in two parts, each part being 3 hours long...its hard to watch in one single session...

anyway just wondering what are peoples opinions on it. the book is much better i think... with the movie version they left out alot of pivotal moments, and left out some of the more graphic moments that appear in the book too...:D

I bought it on dvd coz i watched it when i was about 10 and i quite liked the book. I think the first half is not bad, but the 2nd half gets crappy.

The opening sequence with "dont fear the reaper" is good as well.

It's a long time since I saw it.

It came out on video a good while before it was screen on any channels here I believe and I remember renting both parts.

Must try and see it again... I remember enjoying it at the time... but then anything with Molly Ringwald in it is bound to be good.

I remember renting part 1 on a Saturday night in 2004, and standing outside the video shop the next day at 12pm waiting for it to open so I could get the second part. Really liked it at the time, but I hadn't read the book so I didn't know what was missing/changed.

I think it's like all things by Stephen King, starts out great and tapers off during the second half. I thought it was grand, but it missed most of the best bits that were in the book and just didn't have the same atmosphere.

the guy who played Randall Flagg, the demon guy, did a great job... the only problem was they made his character too comical in parts. he is the personification of evil but in the book he s much more intense...

This is being shown on sci fi at the moment, though I missed the first part but it will be repeated soon enough I would say.

Years since I saw it, but I agree the opening sequence was really good. I loved the first half, couldnt wait for the second... and thought that was crap. The story went off on this weird direction, I thought it spoiled it.

Sometimes SK is wonderful in film, sometimes he doesnt translate well at all. In this story I thought the paranormal elements simply didnt work like they do in the book.
