Would it be worth while buying a new or year old civic (1.4-1.6)up north or in UK when VRT is included??

    Check the online VRT calculator:

If the car is less than 6 months old or has less than 6,000 km then you will be subject to pay Irish VAT as well as VRT afaik.

A year old one will have already suffered substantial depreciation making it cheaper to buy.

I've never understood this....can you just not opt to pay the VAT in the UK seeing as its in the EU and the rate is lower?
