    Guys,
I have a software product which will run either SQL Express or MYSQL, not 100% sure, fronted by either an application or a web interface again not 100% decided.

Anyway, looked at something like this: http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfullat.asp?productcode=ECE1593767#spec

The reason I am looking at these is 2 fold, its compact and can be easily "taken" by the client, which may appeal to them as much as a handbag! ;)
The 2nd reason is the price is cheap, I cant get or have not found a laptop sub 400 euro.

So is there one model better than the other, do u think I am mental even considering using one to run an application??

    Thanks

You'd probably be better off buying one with an atom processor if your worried about performance

    Know anyone in the north?

I saw the Atom processor mentioned yes.

I would know one or two up there, thanks for the link. Thats very affordable.

Don't touch the Advent 4211 if you come across it. Muck. Awful slow and fiddly (although same goes for them all really), sold it to my dad and he's reported nothing but problems including that the off button stopped working.

    Headsup only, no rant :D

watch out for the screen when deciding on one. some lees recent smaller models have 800x600 res screen, which is an absolute pain .

If you're looking for a mini-laptop/netbook, then you may as get the best available. The Samsung NC10 is currently the best netbook on the market and has won the best in class category on a number of websites since its release a few months ago.

I was reading about that last nite, seems a decent spec, up the RAM to 2 gigs and then it would definately run SQL Server Express nicely.
