    Barbarians v Australia (Kick-off 7.45pm) Sky Sports 2

It seems to be a very low key game, very little info available on it.

The Barbarians have a magnificent team, but the Aussies have named quite a low key squad.

Praying for a stream to be online.

Just another entertaining match without the big fuss behind it. Tip Barbarians to win by +15.

Let us know for any online streaming.

More like a NZ-SA vs Aus outfit tonight. Should be good though as most of these players like to run with the ball.

Jake White, and 8 starting saffies!

If it's anything like the BaaBaa v SA game at the end of last year - which was a cracker.

Barbarians team: Percy Montgomery (SA); Joe Rokocoko (NZ), Rico Gear (NZ), Jean de Villiers (SA), Bryan Habana (SA); Francois Steyn (SA), Fourie du Preez (SA); Federico Pucciariello (Ita), John Smit (SA, capt), Census Johnson (Samoa), Bakkies Botha (SA), Johann Muller (SA), Jerry Collins (NZ), Richie McCaw (NZ), Schalk Burger (SA).
Replacements: Mark Regan (Eng), Rodney Blake (Aus), Chris Jack (NZ), Nick Koster (SA, uncapped), George Gregan (Aus), Ollie Smith (Eng), Shane Williams (Wal).

Australia team: James O'Connor; Lote Tuqiri, Ryan Cross, Adam Ashley-Cooper, Digby Ioane; Quade Cooper, Brett Sheehan; Sekope Kepu, Tatafu Polota-Nau, Matt Dunning, Mark Chisholm, Hugh McMeniman, Dean Mumm, George Smith (capt), Richard Brown.
Replacements: Adam Freier, Ben Alexander, Peter Kimlin, David Pocock, Luke Burgess, Lachie Turner, Drew Mitchell.

That's a savage BaaBaa's XV, a back row of Burger/McCaw/Collins is world class, as is the half backs, and back line...

13-0 to Australia at the moment. They're looking very organised in defence and on the counter-attack.

Let's hope that the Baa-Baas start gelling soon :pac:

Schalk is bashing through two defenders at a time with ease.

The Boks in the team are looking good. I'm biased though!

I don't think SA style suit the Kiwis though.

The 18 year old full back for Australia is looking like a great find.

Why the hell does Fransie persist in going for the hail-mary drop goal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,739 ✭✭✭Jello

Yeah this is frustrating, link not working :(

It worked before, maybe his confidence is too high! A good tackle and he won't do it again

How long will this Aussie tackling last jesus they ll finish with 200 tackles in the end! Steyn stop kicking possession away please

Steyn's good at drop goals, but it isn't really in the spirit of the game. They have to break through the Aussie defence and cross that try line.

Percy is playing like a man 10 years his junior tonight. I just hope the end result is close and that the game starts opening up soon.

    13-6 Australia

Aus defence is good but SA players bar Burger, Du Preez are disgracefull.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭Stev_o

Jesus the Aussies have never tackled like this for years!

Ja ok. Bakkies bashing of opponents on the field is good. Percy is average but the young Aussie fullback is making him look like a beginner.

Ah well was hoping for a late try for the Baa Baa's but cant get it everyway. Great game played at international intensity and people thought that the intensity showed in the Munster vs All Blacks match was a once off some damn fierce tackling by both sides

    Good game that. Great watch.

Doubt it !. You see when Collins tapped and go'ed . Next phase steyn kicks it to touch and looks at the fowards with a "what the hell look ! " . Run the Ball ! .

He Could have won the game for the Baabaa's as well ! .

Wallabies depth of talent looking good. O'Connor can be the next Bernie Larkham. Quade Cooper if he improves could make enough progress to stay at pivot so Giteau can slip back into inside centre and partner Mortlock. Wingers as good as ever. Burgess and Sheehan at halfback both excellent. Aussie backrow? Top dollar. Pocock is going to be one hell of a flanker. Thought Richie Brown looked a little tired. George Smith was openside supremo. Polota-Nau needs to carry that form into next season.

By the way, Digby Ioane's surname is pronounced 'yo-an-ee' not 'eye-own-ee' as the commentators keep blurting. Does my head in. (yes, I'm easily bugged :D)

Even though it was a Baa Baa's game it was a real eye opener last night to the future of Aussie Rugby and where Robbie Deans is going to tak eit for the next world cup. If he gets the tight five working like it looks he is going to and brings through some of the back line talent then the Aussies are going to have an amazing team.

I was most impressed with Adam Ashley-Cooper. Haven't really been that excited by him but last night in the centers he was amazing. A real revelation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,081 ✭✭✭Digifriendly

Remember that Baabaas were effectively a scratch side and I would have taken the New Zealand team that beat Scotland (effectively their second team) to have won more convincingly than Australia did last night. BTW why in the professional era has much of the sheer joy of watching the Baabaas in matches like these disappeared?

Why can't every game be played at that pace and intensity?

Someone needs to tell Steyn that this doesn't always happen..
