    I have just bought a new laptop and am getting rid of me 9 month old dell inspiron 6400 laptop.Just wondering,would putting it back to factory settings via the "F2" options be enough.I keep all pics and music on external hard drive so they aint really much on the laptops hard drive its self,I think!!! lol

    So advise please???

    You need to format the Hard Drive and reinstall windows.

    I'm not too sure what the "F2" options are, it's probably the BIO's settings, if so it won't work.

    Just to be sure, do a fresh install if your planning on selling it

    What version of windows are you running ? Do you still have the installation disc that came with your your laptop?

    If it's XP and you have the disc theres a guide here that you can follow to reinstall it.

    If you don't have a disc you can remove all your documents off the pc, uninstall any programs you would have installed then create a new Administrator profile and delete your old profile. That's what I would do anyway. Hope this helps.
