Gardai across the country have arrested six people this morning following a series of raids on suspected brothels.

The raids targeted a gang that detectives believe is involved in human trafficking and prostitution.

A total of nine suspected brothels were searched in Cavan, Drogheda, Athlone, Mullingar, Sligo, Kilkenny, Enniscorthy, Newbridge and Waterford, while a further six premises were raided in Carlow.

Four women and two men were arrested on suspicion of organising prostitution.

Simultaneous searches took place in the North and in Wales as part of the same investigation.

Unless its aimed at a place thats using trafficked/enslaved women, I think the whole effort would have been more fruitful if it had never taken place.

Brothels are more popular in Cavan cos it's much more financially sound to pay for the poke and not have to pay for her shoes, clothes, car, food, weekend lotto ticket if they married.
