    Hello

My friend will visit me in Dublin for a weekend, she has a Russian passport but lives in Germany and has a visa to live and work there. What will she require for Dublin? A holiday visa?

Thanks in advance for any advice

She will need a visa of some sort. Best advice is for her to contact the Irish Embassy in Germany. They will tell her all she needs to know.

Citizens of Russia residing in Germany have to apply for a visa to Ireland in person at the nearest consulate of Ireland in Germany. Please note that the application procedures and fees may vary depending on where you apply.

If there is no consulate of Ireland in Germany there might be a consulate of Ireland in one of the neighboring countries that covers the jurisdiction of Germany.

    Taken directly from here

I'd imagine the embassy there will do the job just as well.

Do we make it as difficult to enter Ireland for Russians as they do for us?

The exact same requirements in fact.

That's really suprising! I presume we're just mirroring their attitude? Like, we're able to get into places like the US and China for short periods without a visa.

And why not. Their requirements really are absolutely ridiculous!

Not the same. And Russian citizens living and working legally in Germany would have even less to do.
