use a brillo pad - circular motions work best.

...seriously though - isopropyl alcohol; you'll either find it in a chemist if you keep badgering them and prepare for some funny looks or you can pay ten times as much for a tiny bottle of it from tower records or somewhere like that.

Washing up liquid and luke warm water is the best I've found and no need to buy anything else

Neat Vodka - works a treat

Warm water and washing up liquid for seriously dirty records, make sure it is not to hot and the cloth is fine cotton, wipe clean in the same direction as the records turns, clockwise gently, then dry off using another fine cotton cloth. if the vinyl isnt that dirty use a cloth soaked in isopopyl alcohol (or cheap vooddy :D ) but dont press down too hard...that should do it

I use an old soft t-shirt. Wet one corner under a cold tap and rinse out, then wipe around the record a few times gently, and do the same then with a dry part of the t-shirt, never fails me!

    Jack Daniels and a cloth!

    Only Joking

The best is some soapy water and a lint free cloth.

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but there wasn't really another place for this. I have a serious problem with static. When I flip a record I can actually here a click as I touch the LP! Can anyone recommend any cure? I've been looking at brushes and sprays and the like, but what works best in your experience? Any help appreciated.

I used to get mad static in Chicago in the summer. I put it down to the dry air, try getting a humidifier. Also maybe a fresh set of slipmats?

It's more severe with new records, yeah.
