I ordered this putter off the internet yesterday - isnt she a beauty!!
Its made from wood got from the Valhalla Golf Course in Kentucky where, as we all know, the Ryder Cup was held this year and as a result is a limited edition model. Anyways, has anyone ever used a wooden putter (a.k.a. persimmon putter)??:D

Wouldn't be my cup of tea, but good luck with it. Are you planning to use it or to keep it as a collector's item? Shape wise it's similar to my old Zebra putter.

I havn't really made my mind up yet. Im currently using an Odessey White Hot #3 which is going well for me at the moment but there can be spells where my putting is shyte so when that happens i might give this new one a try. Ive never used a wooden one before so im interested to see how it performs but to be honest i just bought it because i liked the look of it.

That's fantastic man! No way I'd use it though - not because it wouldn't be good to use - but because it's gotta be really more of a collectors item! Would be a real shame to have the finish wrecked from banging around the bag (even if you use a cover you'll prob get a few nicks).

Given modern technology, anythi ng made from wood is a handicap in itself.
I use Odessey White Hot #3 and for the moment would not cobsider anything else.
Best of luck with the wood and let us know how it goes.

Modern technology that has improved manufacturers ability to make a flat sided piece of material on the end of a stick?

Point taken but for feel and balance wood is not ideal.
Just like the drivers moved away from wood to other materials.

Haha, i was half joking. Sure I use a White Hot Tour myself which says it all! How much "technology" is involved in making good putters is an argument for another day.

I'd suggest that putters that make your arse-pocket lighter often "feel" the nicest ;)

By the way, the website i got it off was:

    http://www.louisvillegolf.com/

Loads of wooden clubs on there.

To be honest, i would feel far more confident with a Ping G10 or the likes in my hand than a wooden driver but i dont think it would be as important with a putter (given the fact that im shyte with an Odessey in my hands too!!:D)
I think for the likes of a scratch golfer it would be a great challenge to go and play a round with wooden drivers and stuff just to see how great the players such as Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson and Bobby Jones really were when they shot rounds with scores in the 60's.

Christ it's beautiful but only for rolling them on the carpet at home, don't insult it with real life golf....

I would consider a persimmon 3-wood though, Used to love those....

The putter arrived and its an absolute dream to hit. I wasnt expecting it to be so good, but then again ive never used a wooden putter before. It feels awesome, far better than my odessey but i dont think ill use it out on the course. It looks so nice, i wanna keep it that way. It came with a golf pride european team grip which was an unexpected suprise.:D
