Wii remote

Looking for advice - Xmas list includes Wii remote. I've seen that the Wii play includes a wireless remote for the same price as buying a (standard) remote by itself. Is this the same as the standard remote that comes with the Wii console? Is there any other (better) way of buying a remote, eg a good game that comes with a free remote?
    Thanks for any help!

In reality you buy the remote which comes with a free copy of Wii play. As far as I'm aware its the only way to get a remote.
