How should I handle this request for a possible interview?

    Evening everyone.

Anybody got any advice for me????
I applied for a position today by email I just logged on now and I have received a response back asking me to let them know when would be convenient for me to meet with them.
I'm currently on a temporary christmas job and have just been rostered off for the past 4 days and from tomorrow I am working up to and including Sunday. I won't know till late tomorrow afternoon what shifts (if any) I'm going to be on after Sunday and I won't be finished until 9.30pm.

    My dilema is:::
    1. Do I email or phone the prospective employer back in the morning and say I'm not sure when I'm available but I'll let them know on Thursday.
    OR
    2. Do I leave it till tomorrow night when I know what shifts I have.
My gut instinct is the first one but do I email or phone??

    What do you think???
    Thanks
    Bijou

First, ring the manager at your temporary job (or ask them in person), explain your situation and ask them if they could leave you know what the shift timetable will be in advance for the coming week? Once you know that, I would let your prospective employer know when is good for you?

Jeremiah cheers for your reply - yeah I could do that first thing tomorrow but tbh they aren't the most approachable bunch of people I've worked for (quite miserable actually ) and I don't want to make things awkward for myself if nothing came of it if you know what I mean:o

Then if you will have no joy from current employer.

Ring the potential interviewer and let him know your situ...

I work in HR and have often gotten phone calls letting me know that due to the current work restrictions they cannot make a time scheduled and could we reschedule. I have met people on weekends, lunch times and early morning and late evenings to accommodate.

Once some one is honest with me I am grand......

Well isn't it funny how people can surprise you??
I spoke to the HR and explained my situation (thought that I'd be honest with them as it's only temp job and no guarantees of being asked to stay after Christmas). I told them that the interviews are only being held on certain dates and they were like "just swap days with someone else - we're not bothered we're only concerned that the hours are covered and sure if you can get out then do" - thought that was a strange comment to make but hey:D
Anyway thanks for the replies - it's fingers crossed time now:)
    Cheers Bijou
