I've just bought the above monitor(http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=367440), which is a combo between a PC monitor, and a TV. It had excellent reviews in general, but I've been really disappointed with the way it displays PS3 games.

The games appear blotchy and edges are jagged. I have fiddled with the display setttings to no end.

Even bluray output, while it appears clear in some images is noticeably upscaled in others and the blotches are present.

Its max resolution is 1680x1050, so I assume this is a downscaling issue in the case of the BluRay.

Likewise, I assume that if I play a game with the PS3 display settings set to 720p, that it needs to be upscaled, which results in the jagged edges and blotchyness.

I bought the cheapest HDMI cable going in GameStop, as I was under the impression that this does not matter.

Are the issues I have outlined above present in all 22" LCDs when used with the PS3 due to the necessary upscaling and downscaling or is my monitor just rubbish?

I alwyas thought jaggies were the result of designers not putting something called 'AA' in their games?

I know nowt else about it.

It shouldn't make any real difference, especially with cables under 2m in length...

Some monitors have a 1:1 pixel matching feature, which keeps whatever true resolution you are feeding in and uses black bars for the unused portion of your screen. My old DELL 2405FPW does this and I think most 20.1" and above DELL monitors do... That would probably makes things better as far as the stretching of the image goes but I'm not sure how much (if at all), it would affect jaggies...

You can get good results with a monitor though - both 720p and 1080i look fine on my 24" (but that has a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 and does the 1:1 matching). I can't get 1080p because I don't have an HDMI port on it, the monitor is simply too old...

These jaggies are so bad, and present in all the games I've tested (in varying degrees, gta 4 is by far the worst. It's apparently only 600p or so which would be the reason I guess), so I don't think it has anything to do with anti-aliasing.

I'm considering returning it, and going for the Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP. That's serious money though, about 500 euro on ebay

    Maybe so Noodler, maybe so.

Think i'll opt for the fancy dell one and send this back all the same.

I have the same monitor and an xbox 360 and im using it on 1080p and when i first got the screen like u i experienced jagged edges on most of my games but much worse on saints row and gta4 then i read the instructions that came with my screen and found tht the best setting for games is to go into the options for picture and change it to user and set the sharpness from its default of 50 down to 20 or 30 this elimantes the problem alltogether
