Anyone ever been to Guangzhou before?
I'm going there in February and haven't a clue what hotel to book.
In general does anyone have a recommendation for a chain that's reasonable quality and operates in the south ? I'm going to be in Guangzhou, Macau and Hong Kong.
Was hoping not to spend more than 300 RMB per night.

    Hi

There is a very good hostel 'Riverside YHA' about 5 minutes walk from the subway.
Rooms and dorms to suit all budgets. Would recommend it.

Apart from that 'Home Inns' may be up your street but cannot say I stayed in one:

/edit: I cannot remember when it is but if the trade fair is on, expect to fork out more, last time I went there were 'suits' staying in the hostels too!
