Regarding John MC & Drogheda Airsoft

    Dear All,

After reading the post submitted by John from Drogheda Airsoft on 30-11-2008, I felt it was only fair to give both sides of the story.

After trying to get in contact with John, we were contacted by the individual who owns the land on which Drogheda Airsoft is operated. We asked him if the site was currently being used to operate a business from and we were told it wasnt. His words were 'that a few friends use it to play around on'. So it was on this knowledge we persued the idea of settting up a proper structured business from the Droghed site. We asked the land owner if he had any objections to this to which he replied that he needed to inform the current tenants of his plans.

Now, it was only after that initial meeting we were informed of John's current operation. To this point we had no idea that John had a fully functional business. Myself and John met with the site owner (where John did say he would plan to get everyone he could to boycott the site should he not be a apart of it). Subsequently had a coffee together to discuss how we could all work TOGETHER to make the business work best. We met John several times at our homes to discuss game ideas and budget spending.

During this process we came across another, more suitable site for what SCS envisaged as an ideal gaming area. When we found this site we ceased all interest in Drogheda Airsoft and openly wished John success however, for obvious reasons we declined to mention the new site we'd located. This is the site in Dundalk that John wants boycotted.

Should John wish to dispute anything above he is more than welcome to contact us directly as he has all our numbers or through his preferred medium ie boards.ie.

The airsoft community is small and its in everyones interest to remain transparent. I have a personal dislike for pettiness and especially in business. Fear of competition is part of business and yes we all have to create a competitve edge over our rivals but we should do it through developing our sites, gameplay, scenarios and themed events. Not through trying to publically discredit a business thats in its early stages of developing a new environment for the airsoft public to play in.

More new sites; means more new players; mean more exposure; means more money; means more for everyone.

SCS wish John & Drogheda Airsoft all the best in the future, I hear the site has come along leaps and bounds from when we spoke last John so congrats on that. Apologies for the initial misunderstanding re the site. We would love to have you as our guest on the site anyday you choose to attend.

And finally, for those who wish to heed John's advice and not show up on the 13th, we hope to see you lot in the future also.

    To the Mods,
I hope you allow this to be viewed and I understand if you decide to prevent people replying.

    Thanks again

    The SCS team

This was locked so you could get your side across.

However there will be no more discussion of this situation tolerated here going forward. You sort this out between yourselves like adults out of this forum.

If I see anything that I consider a legal threat nomatter who it is directed towards I will inform the admins and I would assume the standard site ban for a legal threat will apply.

I have posted this in the Drogheda thread but am making it clear here as well.

This topic is now off limits here.
