This seems the perfect thread to hijack for my own personal needs :)

With Xmas incoming, I have been thinking about asking Santa for a magazine subscription. SoS was the obvious choice as I always read their online reviews before purchasing kit, but i thought i would see if anyone knew of any other mags which might be of interest.

I am a guitarist of 20 odd years.. recently started playing the drums.. have a home studio with lower end equipment.. listen to most types of music but mainly guitar based indie/rock/mod etc. I like reading about equipment and recording techniques but am not so interested in page after page of 10K+ equipment that i will never use.. Something more focussed towards music production and recording would be of more interest to me, and i do like reading interview with folks who have made/recorded the music.

    any ideas?

    Just got Future Music today.

    Great scratchcards Dav!! :pac:

Love the Logic tips that they do.. Always find something useful & handy to be able to go back to at a later date.

Interview with Deadmau5 - Bit dissapointed with it.. Usually they have Interviews / Sessions with more meat in them.

The D Ramirez and Steve Angello ones have to be some of the best, technique-wise that they have done. I dont particularly like their stuff.. but I do appreciate their sound.

The scratch card thing is so weird, I was lying in bed I got 3 symbols the same which means a cash pay out but the catch is you have to spend €10 to receive the cash amount and symbol serial number which sounds like a big fat scam but anyhow like a fool I will give it a try!

I liked the Dave Spoon interviews, he seems very humble and kinda cool..

i saw that thing a while back, it was hilarious.

    went something like this
'look at us, we're behringer. here's our factory in china. massive isn't it. here's a little chinese girl soldering together some parts. isn't she great. actually aren't the chinese great. we're behringer. we don't let them design the stuff though. we have other companies do that. then we give it to a chinese person like the girl pictured and they figure out how to make it at 1/1000th the cost yadda, yadda, blah blah'.

i think their corporate motto should be
'Behringer - what, you think you can do better?'

My favorite line in it had to be - "What does this all mean to you? More value for your money when you buy a Behringer product. And the assurance that it will last through years of use and abuse."- how I chuckled. That and the picture of some Lab- Tech from Germany simply called Dr.Z....

Yeah.. It was cool that he mainly used Reason.

Only thing was that the track that they looked at..At Night or whatever.. Definitely sounded generic.. slightly boring. He was a good Guy though - 100%

I was on the Prop's w/site forums earlier today. Mad forums. People on it are really stumbling around in the dark. You've all these Yank "Hip-Hop" producers & "Sound designers" and everything else inbetween. Its a right mess.

Anyways... Some chap was wetting himself about Dave Spoon.. He basically saw this as proof that he had made a good choice buying Reason etc..

I dunno.. Not convinced. Hes got a nose for the money though (D Spoon). Hes helping Pete Tong to do tracks! Haha!! Pete is helping him to DJ - Yawn.

The answer to this question would definitely lie within the four walls of Easons in the Blanch centre
