One list for Irish Players to choose what events to play

Can tourney organisers pull some sort of exel sheet between them outlining the months and weekends they plan to have their tourneys on.

Something simple with headers such as
Event Name, Month, Date, Location, Buy In, Reg Fee

If someone wants to play an event they can look at structure etc etc in tourney forum. Just a suggestion as it would make it easier for those planning on playing these to plan out their year and what tourneys they want to play in and may also avoid 2/3 tourneys clashing on the same weekend.
Hec i would even pull the spreadsheet together as i know this was discussed in early 08 but nothing ever came of it.

Not all events are organised 6 months in advance Fran. Rather you than me trying to get a consolidated list. I agree the theory is great, but the practicality isn't there.

Whilst i agree maybe not 6 months in advance certainly with booking rooms and organising dealers tourney organisers would have an idea 3 months in advance. I would be interested on hearing the views of JP/Neil/Connie/GJP/Stephen on this as i think it would be great for the players.

All i am talking about his having a central file that contains all the main events over the year (obv not every 100 f/out). All it will show is the headline information and is someone wants to play it they can enquire further on structure, estimated proze pool etc.

I would make out that we have at least 12-15 events a year that most players would consider the regular main events some that i can think of are the

    Irish Open
    JP Irish Masters
    Party Poker Event
    Deepstack
    Macau Summer/Winter Festival
    Fitz Festivals
    SE Festivals
    Waterford Open
    Killarney
    IPO
    etc etc

I think all of these are listed in the back of Poker Europa every month.

    Hey Fran,

In principle it’s a great idea, and should work for the big events during the year, most clubs / tournie organisers have one maybe two big events planned for each year.

At the moment one of the problems is nobody knows how the big R is going to effect everything and so plans may change.

At the moment I have the following events.

Green Joker Poker - European Deepstack Poker Championship II
Green Isle Hotel - Thurs 5th-Sun 8th Feb
    Main Event is €1500 & €150 - Fri 6th
    Side Event I is €500 & €50 - Sat 7th
    Side Event II is €300 & €30 - Sun 8th

    JP Poker Irish Masters
Red Cow Hotel - Thurs 7th - Sun 10th May
    Main Event is €675 & €75 - Fri 8th
    Side Events TBC
I am currently working on a getting this event sponsored with a guaranteed prize pool.

I am also trying to organise a tour with an online site - No dates at the moment, but with probably be a monthly €250 game with a few mini festivals, may a team event, heads-up event and shoot-out tournament.

I didn;t realise Lakes of Kilarney festival was on at the end of January, will def play that,

Good idea Fran by the way, and it wouldn't be altogether hard to sort out either, like the Weekly tournaments thread.

You could create a new public calendar using calendar.google.com, that means people could automatically add those events to their own calendars etc. Mightnt be worth it though...

    Nice one Fran.

    Good idea Fran.
Google Calendar (or similar) would be better than a spreadsheet IMO.

Very simple to run and very easy to use.

    Edit:
what Drakar said (Doh!) Except that is would be worth it and they are trivially easy to organise and administer

Yup, more coordination between organisers needed I think. I know JP and Neill and Connie and a few others do their best not to clash: be nice if others followed suit.

    Nice work on this Fran.

The problem is Summer. If Vegas is on very few organisers want to put anything on (from experience I've run or been involved in at least two Summer festivals that flopped)....From September on its usually a good time to put on a poker tournament because players are raring to go after the Summer (thats the reason I set the IPO for October for the last two years anyway).

This year I will have a very good idea of the exact dates of tournaments and will list them.

In fact if any tournament organisers want to contact me now or post here with information about a planned festival in 2009 I will put it up on pokerireland.ie....I'm sure if we all did the same with the exact same list (talking to all tournament organisers with websites here) it would make this information very accessible to all players throughout the year.

    Stephen.

P.S. I might be opening a bricks and mortar club soon :)

Whatever happened to irishpokerupdate.com (or whatever the web site was) that would allow all organisers to enter their tournament details?

Thats exactly why i would like to see this up and running as it would prove helpful for organisers but also players who would like to play in all the big events through 09. Will have a look at setting this up in that Google Calender thingy later.

BTW There are very little tourneys on between June and August although Vegas is on i could not see this dramtically reducing numbers as at most you would have around 20/25 Irish travelling over.

I'm hoping to run a small buy-in €250 with a big guarantee €100,000 in August, still working on it.

Will post when I have more details

I generally get a lot of up to date tournament info re the larger Irish events and I make an effort to list these and keep them updated at the top of the first page of my website www.pokerinireland.net
Any tournament organiser is welcome to send details to me by email to mickymccloskey@hotmail.com

While its a great idea, most organisers aren't bothered.

This was started last year by Big Dragon (online calender of all events and buy-ins) and fell on its face. People aren't arsed to keep it up.

If it could be done it would be great.

I think there are a few here in this thread that would get behind it anyway...I will send PM's out as soon as I get ten minutes to spare :)

As stated earlier google calender would be perfect for this.
the 5 or 6 tournament organisers could share a public calender and update it as necessary

    Hi Fran,
I thinks its a very good idea. Within a couple of weeks, I'll be able to put dates/ venues/ structures togethet for any decent type/festival type games we will be involved in next year (2009). I'll post them here or I'll pm them to you so as to help with your callender of events.

    Connie

If it was set up you could make it part of the terms on the poker forums that any advertising of events must have said events up on the boards poker google calender prior to a thread being posted about it.
