On Crutches through Manchester Airport

I'm currently on crutches and travelling to Manchester in the morning with Aer Arann. I've requested assistance but has anyone else been through this in Manchester or anywhere else? I know I 'm not expected to pay for this but:
    1. How much assistance can I expect to get in Manchester - one of those golf carts?
    2. Should I tip whoever is helping me?
    3. I haven't packed yet - should I check a bag in or try to carry my stuff in a backpack?

    Any tips/previous experience appreciated.

    1) If available. If not, they'll stick you in a wheelchair. If you're just on crutches, maybe you'll want to spare your blushes. You might be very self-conscious.

    2) If you want to, like anywhere, it's not expected, but it is appreciated.

    3) That's up to you.

If you can, let the cabin crew know that you'd like assistance at this end. They can arrange for a vehicle to come collect you from the plane.

At Manchester Airport, the long walk between terminals isn't as much of a problem. You can just stand there and let the moving walkway take the strain. It's all very futuristic.
