I've just seen an ad on the telly for her new show starting on December 11th.

From the ad it appears to be a heart wrenching as it happens look at her battle with cancer.

When she was diagnosed a few months ago I said to a few people that this will be made into a tv show and was effectively called a scumbag. No one is that low I was told. She isn't that needy for attention the plebs reckoned.

Given my canny eye then for what the mass morons will lap up, should I go ahead and pitch my idea to the networks for "handicapped popstars" ( I think it is self explainatory), or am I just scum for thinking it?

She's a waster. Anyone who watches it is a waster. Is there anything she won't try and scrounge a few pound out of?

But would you watch handicapped popstars is the question I asked?

Presented by Corky from Life Goes On and the clubfoot from Grange Hill (subtitled obviously) and judged by, I dunno, Stevie Wonder, the blind guy from Roadhouse and Jake Jigglinballs from Brokeback Darko....( he is down syndrome isn't he?)

Jade Goody is scum. Don't be fooled into thinking we have to like her just because she has cancer. Don't watch the show.

She's a media whore. Using her cancer for more self promotion / publicity is an even worse low , even by her low standards .

No, I wouldn't. I wouldn't watch non-handicapped popstars either. It's all retarded. Pardon the pun.

Anything outside the scope of national geographic or discovery doesn't get a second thought from me.. Bar a few exceptions.

I'd prefer someone else raising awareness of her funeral.

I think almost every one in this country knows someone suffering from Cancer, but they do it with dignity. ( despite the neglect from the HSE)

So in this case cancer is a mixed blessing, she'll get a tv show out of it, but it'll hopefully take her away from tv very soon.

Bizarre you should say that. Living tv have all of September 2009 cleared for Jade retrospective month.

    Hedging their bets.

Jesus, I know it's AH but that's all a bit harsh.

Anyone who has lost someone to cancer would testify that they wouldn't wish it on anyone or have disregard for a life no matter who they are.

Ever think that it might be her wanting to do something good and bring awareness to the subject?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

I always said I wouldn't care if she died, no loss and all that.

I'd be a hypocrite and/or bottler to back out now that its happening.

Honestly, I don't care about her or that she may die, I don't hope for it, but I don't care either way, no loss.

People can spend their time worrying about other people who are more worthwhile.

+1. I despise Jade Goody and the decay of television that she represents. But wishing death on her is a bit harsh. Cancer or no cancer.

Tbh I'd be a little sceptical about whether her intentions are entirely noble. She is an attention whore at the end of the day. :) But still if the end result of this show is that one or two more people get up off their arses and do something about that lump they've been meaning to get checked for ages, then the show will have done some good.

    Harsh guy's,

IMO she and other reality star's are so lonely,
they have scum bag friend's and family's
who will sell the story anyway.
So they do the show's 1. for company and
2.they may as well be the one's to profit.

Knackers should not be allowed on telly;)

You can use cancer to raise awareness on the airwaves. Or you can use it to be a self-promoting media whore.

I blame those who open the airwaves to even allow her on it.

At least get the average Mary on that will be modest and will actually use it to raise awareness, rather than push yourself on the television for publicity, and probably money.

Not in the country at the moment Java so not sure how the programme has been put forward as a production and even if I was at home I don't think I'd be aware anyway as I don't watch tv anymore but unless it's being sold as trash, I'd be willing to give it the benefit of the doubt at this stage.

Who is going to watch a documentary about average Mary modestly suffering cancer?
There are loads of serious average Mary/Joe cancer documentaries already. Some people watch them but generally not the same demographic that will watch Big Brother, I'm A Celebrity and other reality crud. The thing is that when a celebrity (especially a young celebrity) gets cancer or any other disease, people sit up and take notice. Jade Goody is in a position to raise a lot more awareness about cancer than your average Mary.

I haven't seen it or ads for it either. Goody's track record for media whoring is pretty strong though. I'll give her motives the benefit of the doubt too for now. As I said already though, it doesn't matter what her motivation is (or the motivations of the people behind the show), it will probably do some good.
