How do I join a boxing club?

    Hello all!
I have a quick question on how exactly to join a boxing club.

What do I need to do? Do I just turn up? Call them first? Do clubs have a set amount of spaces? Do they supply gear?(excluding gum shield and hand bandages)

Does it matter that I may not be too interested in any serious competing?

I boxed in my mid teens and did very well, but have never been anywhere else since then.

If anyone has any info regarding the Bray Club in Wicklow in relation to the above, it would be great as it's the closest to me.

Usually you just arrive up and ask can you join, if they have space they'll let you-get your own gum shield and i'd get my own gloves too! there will be community gloves but they'll be sweaty an all!

    Do as Paul said:

    As for the competing...

My view on this is SIMPLE:

If you do not intend on competing, the only way I'd let
you in would be as a benefit to the others, as in a good sparring partner.

    That would be a MUST!

    Thanks lads...

Sorry for all the questions' but generally speaking how long before a club would enter you into competition?

On a lighter note: If I turn out to be sh*te will they give me the boot?

they would not put you out for been shiite, but might if you lacked effort, if your good enough they'll let you compete, if not they wont-depends on you really...good luck with it..

Yea id agree with what cowzer is sayin but I would also recommend getting your own headgear aswell..........nothing worse than having to borrow someones or community ones headgear!!

Where you from and we will try and point you to a club near ya? most boxing clubs would take a 24 year old.

Peter Taylor (Katie Taylor's dad) coaches in bray and would train anyone as long as they put in the effort.

If you live in Dublin you might want to ring the White Collar Boxing club.
