I arose early and the light looked good so I headed for Blessington with the camera ...unfortunately, the fog had settled on the area and the sky looked s***e ...

I did manage to get a couple, any C&C would be appreciated ..

Number 2 I like. Have you tried processing in B&W, might bring out the mist

The first one doesn't grab me too much but the second one is quite beautiful Philip. Well done to you. With the first i think its just the scene doesn't excite me. I don't find any emotion conveyed in it but the second i think is just the opposite. Great stuff in #2 Cheers.

The first one doesn't do it for me but I have to say I love number 2.

Thanks Emul ... I did try the second in BW but it's far more effective in colour ... I appreciate the idea ...

Tommy ... thanks, I just needed confirmation ... I did feel more for the second shot ... I think the first is missing something ... somebody walking along the pathway or something ...

Ghost ... thanks, I think I'll get it printed up and have a look at it then :-)

cheers for taking the time to comment

Thats gas. I have a feeling thats the branch I threw into the water about three weeks ago at this lake. There was nothing of interest in the foreground so I broke it off one of the trees behind and threw it in!!!

Was this taken down by Avon Rí?

He he ... not that far down Ballyman ... I walked the shoreline between Russelstown carpark and the lane about a mile toward the village ...

must keep an eye out for you on these frosty mornings ...

Funny, I like the first one, but possibly only because it reminds me of the way I used go to school! Why that should make me like it I have no idea - must be getting old :)

I really like number 2 but it looks a bit soft-ish to my (not perfect) vision :)
The colours in the first look a bit odd to me, there seems to be a blue colour cast in the top half. Did you use a graduated filter or something? I like the composition though!

@thoie ... glad you like it ... whatever the reason :)

@daycent ... I'm having a dilema ... the second is the better of the two but, you're right , the shot is suffering from what appears to be a softness ... I printed it earlier and it's looking grand, but , only grand not perfect ....it's one of those situations where you regret not taking a few more frames :(

As for the first, a grad filter is correct ...only grey though ... the mist messed up the colours a bit .....

I agree with everyone else. The first one doesnt work for me - maybe if you had shot it in landscape instead of portrait it would have worked better. There is definitely a blue color cast on it.

Second one is a really good photo - I love it!

2 is an absolute cracker.. Love it. The sky and framing are excellent.. Like to see a B & W conversion on it

@Daycent ... you are correct, in looking closer, the second is a bit soft ...I had a sharper version which I actually prefer ...

I prefer the crop on this one too ..

if you look closely, you can see the ripple where a fish had just leapt out of the water :)

thanks as always ... tis great to get peoples opinions :-)
